conversion van manufacturers

Full-size conversion vans have so much versatility. They offer space, luxury, safety, style, functionality and endless customizable features. Conversion vans can be used as family vehicles, company cars, for commercial limousine services, camping and road trip vehicles, utility and storage purposes, mobility vehicles for those with disabilities requiring wheelchair equipment and much more.

What is a “conversion van”?

Conversion vans are full-size cargo vans that are customized and outfitted by various third-party conversion van companies and kits for a specific purpose, such as camping, mobility and commercial needs.

Conversion vans were extremely popular in the 1980’s, with many dozens of companies taking standard van chassis and converting them with features and finishes far beyond the basic vehicle. GMC Savanas, Chevrolet Express, Ford Econolines, Dodge Rams and other models were popular for building upon.

Today, there are fewer conversion van companies out there; however, these manufacturers continue to change the industry drastically. Modern conversion van companies take chassis such as the Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster, Mercedes Metris and Sprinter, and transform them into state-of-the-art vehicles for everything from work to luxury travel.

For instance, the classic American RV and campervan company, Winnebago, specializes in building state-of-the-art Class B motorhomes like the Travato, Revel and Solis on Ram ProMaster and Mercedes Sprinter chassis.

Below is an alphabetical list of mainstream conversion van builders that take the everyday full-sized van and build upon it.
